Calvary Road

The Calvary Road by Roy Hession

This book is an old Christian classic.

I was given it to read as a young Christian and it has greatly influenced me in my Christian life. It covers clearly and simply the foundations if true discipleship. It begins with a chapter about brokenness and explains how we need to come in true humility before the Lord Jesus Christ. It goes on to explain the principles of holiness and righteousness taking the scripture from Isaiah Chapter 35 “And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called the way of holiness“. Other chapters include one on the meaning of true fellowship with the Lord and with our brothers and sisters in the faith. It concludes with asking the question “Are we willing to be a servant?”

I can recommend this book to anyone who is seeking to follow the Lord Jesus in sincerity and truth. It was written back in 1950 when the author was seeking the meaning of real revival and in doing so realized that it only comes about at a cost and as we follow God’s appointed way – the way of the cross.

I believe the reprinted version is available online but any second hand copy is definitely worth snapping up.

PS The book illustrated above “My Calvary Road” has also been written by Roy Hession and tells the story of his own Christian walk
